Subgroups
The following sub-groups have been put in place to enable members to have a say in specific issues.
Members are encouraged to participate in the groups to enable all views to be considered. The groups are not limited as indicated. The objectives of each group may also vary from time to time to meet the needs of members.
All groups will report back to the Executive. At least one Executive Member will be on a group acting as Chairperson.
Where members are not specifically assigned to a group, the group itself will encourage members to have input.
EPA Interaction
Executive Members are the VWMA contact with EPA. Members concerns are considered by the Executive with a “whole of industry” type approach to EPA.
Melbourne City Council - Commercial Waste
This group has been established in October 2008 to enable industry to put forward a proposal for service standards to operate within the CBD.
MCC will commence an industry consultation in February 2009, following a recent Council decision to abandon a universal commercial waste service and regulate (through standards) commercial waste activities. Open to all members.
O H & Safety / Worksafe
Committee to oversee OH & S issues to ensure whole of industry type decisions and consistency.
Training
Executive to oversee training activities within the Association. Member feed back/advice/support required.
Regional Members / Matters / Interstate
Executive to oversee activities within the Association. Member feed back/advice/support required.
Regional member representation required.
Liquid Waste
Member sub group to look into specific issues impacting on the industry. The Association can give feed back to Worksafe/EPA/VicRoads
Local Councils
Executive to look into specific issues impacting on the industry. Member feed back/advice/support required
Bin Group
Member sub group to look into specific issues impacting on the bin industry. The Association can give feed back to Worksafe/EPA/VicRoads.
VWMA Schedule 4 Facilities Advisory Group
Member sub group to look into specific issues impacting on the treatment, disposal and storage industry. The Association can give feed back to EPA. This group will call on input from other groups as necessary along with invitations to others including EPA.
Asbestos Group
Member sub group to look into specific issues impacting on the management including the disposal and storage of asbestos . The Association can give feed back to EPA. This group will call on input from other groups as necessary along with invitations to others including EPA.
