Through these Rules, the VWMA and Members are committed to operate in an environmentally sound manner at all times whilst considering and maintaining proper Occupational, Health and Safety practices.

The Association becomes involved in various activities not only for members, but any person involved in waste management, namely-

• Liaison with various Authorities/Agencies such as EPA, Sustainability Victoria, MAV,AiG, Victoria Police, WorkCover, VicRoads, Councils and Regional Waste Management Groups and various Water Authorities.
• Industrial Relations
• "Duty of Care" & Occupational Health &Safety
• Government policy/legislation
• Training
• Creating a level playing field

To maintain a vigilant role in the interests of all members, stakeholders and the public at large, as new regulations and controls are introduced

To advise members of all changes in advance which may effect their compliance and economic exposure.

Open membership to a broad base of waste management associated companies to ensure that a balanced view on environmental concerns and procedures are achieved.

To provide a mechanism for the VWMA and its members to address issues of common concern.

To ensure consistent approaches and standard procedures to raise the image of waste management.

The ongoing aim of the Association is to coordinate activities within the waste industry to help bring about a cleaner and healthier environment for all to live and work in. The VWMA believes this can only be achieved by consistent liaison, negotiations and discussions between Government , Industry and the Community as a whole, whilst displaying a responsible approach to members activities.
